Josh Randall has spent nearly two decades pushing audiences to the brink. And pulling them into something deeper. As the co-creator of BLACKOUT, the infamous immersive horror experience launched in New York City in 2009, Josh didn’t just break the mold of haunted houses. He incinerated it. Armed with a BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and training from RADA, SITI Company, and Experimental Theatre Wing, Josh engineered BLACKOUT into a cult phenomenon: no masks, no chainsaws, no kitsch. Just pitch-dark rooms, real fear, and a carefully crafted sense of psychological chaos that left people shaken and coming back for more. He’s since created over 50 immersive projects for brands and platforms like Hulu, Universal Pictures, Blumhouse, Disney, Kickstarter, and The New York Times. He brought Castle Rock to life for JJ Abrams and Stephen King at San Diego Comic-Con and collaborated with Skrillex and Queens of the Stone Age on genre-bending live experiences. As Creative Producer at Two Bit Circus, he turned playful weirdness into a strategic art form. Now, as Senior Entertainment Manager at Insomniac Events, Josh curates the surreal spectacle at some of the world’s most iconic music festivals. His recent work includes large-scale ARGs for Deathpact and an experiential reimagining of Romeo and Juliet in Los Angeles. Whether it’s underground theater or festival main stage, Josh builds experiences that stretch the senses, scramble comfort zones, and blur the boundary between audience and story.
